Reggie Gaskins is an award winning Writer & Director who was born in Philadelphia where he began his acting career at the prestigious Freedom Theatre. It was there where he honed his skills as an actor, playwright and director. Unhappy with the limitations of roles he was cast in, Reggie began writing plays for himself to portray a variety of roles. Finding success as a playwright and actor, Reggie moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his career goals.
Reggie has recently completed production on his second feature film entitled "The Lawyer, The Thug & The Princess" Reggie is not only a lead in the ensemble film but also the writer, producer and director.
In Los Angeles, Reggie found success as a strong comedic actor, television and film writer, director and producer. His intelligent and energetic comedic timing as an actor landed him as the lead in the hilarious ABC Pilot “Go Sick.” Reggie has since starred on numerous TV shows including Curb Your Enthusiasm, 90210, EVE, INSTANT RECALL and the FOX pilot, KINGS OF COMEDY.
His quick wit and improvisational skills landed him as the host of E Television’s “Star Dates” and Animal Planet's “Animal Pranksters” He also has been cast in four Network TV Pilots. Additionally, Reggie will make appearances at local comedy clubs to display abilities as a stand-up comedian, although his first love is acting.
Additionally, Reggie has a new web series/half hour sitcom Pilot Presentation “Reggie’s Family & Friends”, which was an official entry of the LAWEBFEST. This show displays Reggie at his comedic best with his hilarious portrayal as a Father, Husband & Friend trying to be his best at these three titles in spite of his insecurities with himself.
Reggie can also be seen in the “FRIDAY AFTER NEXT” & “SHOWTIME” and his award winning feature film “RESTRAINING ORDER.” Restraining Order was Reggie's first feature film that obtained distribution and aired on TV1. He was Nominated for a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Writing of a Feature Film for Restraining Order and won Best Picture at the Hollywood Black Film Festival.
Reggie also has created two very popular web series. The first is entitled “The Lawyer, The Thug & The Princess” (which earned him a deal to produce it as a feature film) and the other is “Reggie Gaskins Urban Love Stories” Both series air on his web channel, www.ReggieGaskinsTV.com which averages close to 200 hits a day and on YouTube.
Reggie has been Blessed with numerous opportunities to do what he loves doing which is entertaining audiences of all ethnicities as an Actor, Writer, Director, and Producer and strives to do it God's way until he collapses.
